Be a part of the solution to end youth homelessness

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Approx 25% of young people make up known homelessness, despite only representing 16-18% of the Victorian population.

Hope Street provides safe accommodation and wrap-around support services for young people aged 16–25, including young parents and their children. Together, we create sustainable solutions that empower young people to be independent, thrive and realise their goals and aspirations.

The scale of what we are responding to

ON ANY GIVEN NIGHT, MORE THAN 28,000 YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 12 TO 24 ARE WITHOUT A SAFE PLACE TO CALL HOME, MAKING UP 23% OF THE COUNTRY’S HOMELESS POPULATION.

IN VICTORIA, YOUNG PEOPLE ARE NEARLY TWICE AS LIKELY AS ANY OTHER COHORT TO EXPERIENCE HOMELESSNESS, AND FOR FIRST NATIONS YOUNG PEOPLE, THE RATE RISES TO MORE THAN EIGHT TIMES THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.

Hope Street provides tailored support responding to the unique complexities faced by each young person, minimising the risk of entrenched homelessness and its dire impact into adulthood.

Amy’s story

Amy, 18, was referred to Hope Street’s First Response Youth Service in Melton after leaving home due to family violence. She had no income and no clear next step. She was allocated a youth case manager who assisted her to identify her goals, navigate government systems, and access health care she had been unable to address while homeless. Engaging in Hope Street’s living skills program, Amy was able to access weekly personal training and mental health services to rebuild her physical and emotional wellbeing.

Hope Street’s four-stage model with young people:

Hope Street’s delivery service works in a four-stage continuum of care. A young person can enter at any point, and access support through each stage.
