NorthWestern Mental Health - SUMITT logo

The Homeless Youth Dual Diagnosis Initiative (HYDDI) is a Department of Health and Human Services Youth Homelessness initiative implemented through a partnership between Hope Street and the NorthWestern Mental Health (NWMH), the mental health arm of Melbourne Health. A HYDDI Practitioner is employed by NWMH's Substance Use and Mental Illness Treatment Team (SUMITT) and is co-located at Hope Street.

HYDDI works with at risk young people in the Northern metropolitan local government areas, who have a dual diagnosis of mental health issues and substance use issues.  The aim of the initiative is to provide timely responses to issues arising from mental health or substance use, and limit the impact these have on a young person’s ability to participate in the community.
