The Homeless to Homemaker pilot project offers a home for young people and young families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in Melton. Core to this offer is the support component which ensures young people have the support, wraparound services and investments required to achieve their goals.
This project equipped young people experiencing homelessness with the basic life skills needed for independent living and encouraged positive interactions between residents in the Hope Street in Melton program. Group sessions provided practical information, education and support for young people to actively participate in their community.
This project equipped 120 young migrants and refugees experiencing homelessness, aged 16 - 25 years and residing in Hope Street's Refuge and Supported Youth Accommodation facilities in Whittlesea, Melton and the Northern Metro region, with the basic life skills needed for independent living and to encourage positive interactions with each other.
Many of the young people in our service face justice and legal issues. This project provided 150 young people experiencing homelessness who were 16 - 25 years of age and residing in Hope Street's Refuge in the Northern Metropolitan region with legal education, information and support.
